This is how Jesus described his mission on earth.
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. It may seem a call for violence.But it is not. His sword is not made up of any material but of spirit.
What a puzzling statement ?
At first sight, a passage like this can be somewhat puzzling and perhaps embarrassing for those who believe that Jesus bring peace to the earth.Every Christian would prefer to wish that Jesus bring them peace. As their God, Jesus tells the world clearly, that it is not possible at all to deliver peace to people.Instead he has a weapon of peace to offer them. People could use the Jesus sword to cut out the human ego . It is not a physical sword,it is a spiritual sword that could cut out the evil from the human.This is the only possible way to get peace on earth.
As the son of God and an authentic human being, Jesus could not offer people, any Utopian heaven or peace of mind just like the religion or politics do.In fact, he could offer only a tool of peace that could be used by people. Believing in Jesus do not help people in finding peace.But they have to suffer the pain of applying the spiritual sword in them.Their ego will have to be cut out and removed from them. It will be a painful experience for anybody.Because all they have kept as valuable will become useless garbage . All gossip will disappear from the society.
In our civilized world people are engaged in inflicting mutual damage to their respective ego beings.It makes their lives the hell. Jesus says to cut it out oneself so that there is no chance for others to attack on our ego being.Then we have made peace in our life and around us.
In between nations too, the collective ego is the evil that challenges other nations with aggression. The political leadership should dismantle their missiles and apply the sword of Jesus to bring peace in to their country.The palestina conflict with Israel is a live demonstration of what Jesus told.
I did not come to bring peace. I came to bring a sword.
What kind of declaration is this? Is Jesus saying that the purpose of his coming is to produce conflict.Yes, a conflict with the religious leaders. Religion is a “collective ego” that also takes away peace from people.But religion is a pseudo business that flourishes only on a placebo treatment on the restless ego.They give people a feeling of peace by frightening the ego of people, offering them a heaven after death, a return of the son of God to judge all the dead to resurrect the noble and rich among the dead.
Jesus wanted to fight all these non sense at one go.
He wants to cut out the ego from people instead of calming it by sedation. Using his sword ,Jesus wanted people to get rid of their ego to join peace.For Jesus God is Love and peace.This could never be proved otherwise by any science or religion.
I give you peace in My special way.(we can look at John.14:27.)
“I’m giving you an idea of a different peace. It is not the kind of peace that the world give you. I give you peace in my special way, not as the world gives to you.
Not many Christians are aware of this special way. The use of the spiritual sword is to divide the evil of the “ego-being” from the human being. Such a division in people will affect the most intimate (family) relationships. When there is no ego, all relationships will be re-defined.The life become re-defined.Everybody become emotionally independant when they become authentic and fulfiled in themselves.
That is why Jesus explained it how it happens.
“For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law and a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.”Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;
The human ego is the devil that lives in people.That is why people do not have peace in them.Jesus have come to give this mission of life. The mission of each human life is to cut the ego(karma path) and join peace.There could not have been any meaning for life other than joining peace and happiness.
All Christian parents teach their children to believe in Jesus. Is it enough ?
Reading bible,believing Jesus and Going church is all what Jesus devotees do.But they never take the sword in hand,that Jesus brought to them.
Jesus brought the sword to separate the human ego(evil) from our self,the holy spirit.
Anyone who does not take my cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
The Jesus cross means all about the pain of detaching our ego from us. It is never about the wooden cross that the religion uses to frighten people. The natural man makes many concepts of God with many rituals.But they never realizes peace in them.
Jesus wanted to say that peace is not possible in people, till they cut out their ego.Cutting the ego means dividing the person using the spiritual sword.This is not the sword that people used to wage the “present day holy war or the ancient holy crusades”.
This is the spiritual sword ,the light that helps people to see God in a whole new perspective. All spiritual tools work like a sword. Because it cut the human ego out and enable the union of God (peace) with human beings.
Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find.
Jesus say about two types of life here. One is the life of a primitive man, a normal life of anybody with an ego. But when one loses it they get a divine life which is based in peace and love. This is possible only to those who take his cross( the pain of detachment).
When people take pain of detaching their ego, they take the cross . Afterwards they are in a new life of peace and love, exactly that what Jesus wanted to bring on earth.
