“Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the earth”.
Archimedes said it right in the case of humility. Humility is a great strength that is setting aside our ego for the good of our self.
According to evidence revealed by Plutarch, Archimedes was contemplating a mathematical diagram when his home city, was captured by Romans. A Roman soldier commanded him to come and meet his General “Marcellus”, but he declined, saying that he had to finish working on the diagram.
The soldier was enraged by this, and killed Archimedes with his sword. Archimedes died in 212 BC
Jesus follows Archimedes
After two centuries, Jesus applied this lever to move the world.He said ” God is love”. Love is God because it is the spirit of life. But normally people cannot understand Love.What they do is a pretension of Love. It is a barter deal. But Jesus demonstrated “love” by washing the feet of his disciples.
Why did Jesus wash the feet of his disciples?
Washing another’s feet is an act of humility. It is an attitude of high altitude of divinity. Such attitude could emerge in people only as the result of a personal transformation.Normally, people are filled with their ego.Then humility cannot work in them.A human ego is showing proudly it`s capacity to attain wealth and fame.It is proud of it`s wisdom.So it cannot become humble. Humility and pride do not co-exist. On the moment ,any one of it, come to exist, the other is expelled.
Jesus gave another message in this context.
“It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant”. It shows the serving leadership.Normally, we see everywhere that most of the leaders want to be served by others.But they show themselves as humble and service minded.But in reality one who have experience know that hypocrisy is dominating the human culture.But Jesus did not mean that.Because he was a transformed human.He has undergone a tectonic shift in him.He made himself an authentic person.That is why he lived and behaved like beyond the normal people.
Jesus had also the same fate of Archimedes.The Romans crucified Jesus.Because neither the locals nor the Romans did not understand Jesus. Even today people cannot understand the real Jesus.That is why they follow the Jesus Cult.
A world full of Roman soldiers
Now the world is filled with roman soldiers of ancient times, who do not recognize the value of humility,That is why there is more fights than love , everywhere, where human live and work.
Our inhuman world needs Servant-leaders in politics and economy, who recognize the value of humility.
Humility is a leadership quality of high calibre.
People often overlook the humility factor in social life . Imagine a leader who is unapproachable, uptight, self-absorbed and judgmental. After all,Many people think that respect is lost through humility shown to subordinates. The fact is the opposite. Humility is an important criteria in a team, to be able to relate to the leader. This makes the leader more approachable and a positive figure for his/her teammates. Humility helps people to influence everyone in a positive way without causing conflicts. Humility brings about an easy atmosphere among the teammates to open up for positive communication and team work.
The first step of any successful communication is Humility. Chanakya who was a master of the shrewd act of diplomacy wrote, in his book Arthashastra- a premier of modern economics. “the king [leader] shall consider as good, not what pleases himself, but what pleases his subjects [followers]“.
The serving leadership model is a trans-formative approach towards work and life in the society. Servant-leaders are often seen as humble stewards. A servant leader is someone who is servant first, in disposing his responsibility to the society . They give priority to the well-being of people and community before looking to their own welfare.. A servant leader looks to the needs of the people and asks himself how he can help them to solve problems and promote personal development.
Humility is not any feeling enjoyed by the human ego. It is a natural growth from with in. People need a conscious choice to lead through service.
Humility is the mother of all virtues.
Humility is like a door in to the heaven and virtues. When ever people could open this door,They escape themselves from the world of evils.Therefor, we could say that humility is the mother of all virtues.All other virtues can flow out of humility. Because the niveau of humility is the same as of God -the infinity.One who embraces humility embraces peace and the being.
Human ego and humility cannot co-exist
Humility is the litmus test for humanity in people.It cannot be pretended or played.Because it is the action of real love. In an artificial love, humility has no place.It is the entrance door for “Peace and happiness” in to the human being. Humility is the other side of Love. Love could be best tested and rated through humility.
Humility is so strange to most people . Because, the moment you think-”you have got it” you have lost it.
